Why the name Buddha?
Many years after his death, Siddharth Gautam was started to be called Buddha, which means “The enlightened one” or “The awakened one”.
Years after his writings and teachings were known as ‘Suttas’ that are a part of Buddhist manuscripts. Centuries after the generations added some texts of their way known as ‘Abhidharma’. Biographies of Buddha and the tales about his past life as human or animal form are written in ‘Jalatka tales’.
Some teachings of Buddha’s life were :
Critique of Brahmanism: Buddha did not follow any practices by the brahmin. He did not see any useful or spiritual advancements in their religion. Brahmins had Vedas held with them, but Buddha did not see and accept any spiritual value or authority they had. He also rejected some practices by them such as astrology, divine, fortune Telling, etc.
Analysis of existence: Buddha also taught that the central and fundamental thing in our life is dukkha which means suffering. Suffering can be of any kind. But in life, if you’re going through some ‘Dukkha’, you must know that nothing in this world is permanent. Everything is temporary and unreliable. He shared the four truths of life that mainly has the essence saying if dukkha arises, its cure will also be there.
Dependent origination: Like it was shared before, nothing has its origination. Everything in the world is dependent on each other. If dukkha arises, it doesn’t come initially from something or somewhere independently. There must be the other phenomenon present.
This is not just it. Buddha’s life was full of such teachings that were made and shared to make this world an awakened place. Not only his teachings, but he also gave some life-changing inspirational quotes.
