Who is Conor McGregor?

Conor McGregor, full name – Conor Anthony McGregor, was born on July 14, 1988, in Dublin, Ireland. Conor is a professional martial artist and a boxer. He is the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion. As of 2020, he stands at #8 in the UFC men’s pound for pound ranking.

Early Life:

Conor Anthony McGregor was born in Dublin, Ireland, on July 14, 1988. He is the son of Tony McGregor (Conor’s father) and Margaret McGregor (Conor’s mother). His interest and passion for sports, like football, developed while he was in secondary school. Earlier he, used to play football for the Lourdes Celtic football club. From the age of 12 years, he started doing boxing for Crumlin Boxing Club.

He moved with his family in 2006 to Lucan, Dublin. He also took a plumbing apprenticeship the following year. While he was in Lucan, He met Tom Egan, who was a UFC fighter. Both of them started training mixed martial arts.

Professional MMA Career:

In the year 2008, Conor had his first MMA bout with Gary Morris as a lightweight, where he defeated Gary with a second-round TKO. After the second fight, he made his debut in featherweight too against Mo Taylor.

On January 18, 2020, he fought with Donald Cerrone in a welterweight bout. He won the fight with 40 knockouts. Because of this win of his career, he earned the award of Performance of the Night. This made him earn the title of first UFC fighter to hold knockout fishes in Welterweight, Featherweight, and lightweight divisions.

McGregor started boxing at the age of 12. He used to do boxing at Crumlin Boxing Club. From here, he learned about his strength of having a striking ability.
