Who was Nelson Mandela?

Nelson Mandela, full name – Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born on July 18, 1918. Nelson Mandela was a South African revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist. He served as the president for South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black president of the country and a wholly democratically elected president. Nelson is known to be one of the people who fought against the social evil of racism that has been going in the county for years.

Early life :

Nelson Mandela was born on July 18 in 1918, in Cape province, South Africa. Given the name Rolihlahla, it meant troublemaker. His great grandfather, Ngunbengcuka, was the king of one of the territories of South Africa’s East cape province. Mandela’s father, Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa Mandela, was a councilor and a local chief to the monarch.

His parents were not literate, but he was still sent to a Christian local Methodist school when he was seven years old. His teacher gave the name Nelson to Mandela.

Political Ideology :

Nelson Mandela was an ideological and an African nationalist. He was more of a practical person than a theoretical or a politician. His politics have always been mainly about enacting stories and making narratives. He had hoped for leading a revolution through nonviolence.

Although he presented himself as an autocratic leader, he was a Democrat most of the time and would want the people’s opinion. He had strong viewpoints in favor of democracy and human rights.
