Who is Stephen King?
Stephen king, full name – Stephen Edwin King, is a very well known American author of the novels with genre Supernatural, horror, Sci-Fi fiction, crime, and suspense. He was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, US. His writings and books are so famous and popular that they are now represented and adapted into TV shows, movies, comic books, and theatre.
Stephen King has sold enough 350+ copies of his books and publications. He has published and written 61 novels, six nonfiction books, and enough more than 200 short stories that all are published in his books, as yet. He is widely recognized as his pen names Richard Bachman, John Swithen, and Beryl Evans.
Early life and Childhood:
Stephen King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, US. He was taken to Merchant seaman’s father named Donald Edwin King. His mother, Nellie Ruth, was a homemaker. Still, later on, after his father’s death, his mother started working as a caregiver in a local residential facility for the mentally challenged people. The King’s family lived in Chicago earlier, but they had to return to Maine after World war ll.
His father died early, only when King was two years old. His mother had to take care of him and his elder brother all by herself. When Stephen King was 11 years old, they returned to Durham, Maine. His mother’s parents were also there, and she used to take care of them always. While Stephen King was just in high school, he lost his beliefs in religions. However, he still chooses to believe in the existence of God.
Career:
In 1967, King sold his first story in his world of professionalism named “The Glass Floor”.
He graduated from the University of Maine and got a certificate to teach in high school. He couldn’t get to the teaching job immediately, so he used to sell his short stories to men’s magazines like CAVALIER. Stephen was once arrested for breaking traffic rules and drove over a traffic cone. He had no money to pay the fine of $250, but with his short stories’ publications, like “The raft,” he got the money and paid the fine. In 1971, he was hired at Hampden Academy, in Maine, as a teacher, but he continued to write and publish his stories. He was also trying and working on ideas for novels.
As of now, he had published so many books, novels, short stories, and his writings appear in columns too. King had announced that he had collaborated with his son for a novel, a setup about women’s prison in West Virginia, named “Sleeping beauties.”
King was also seen doing a cameo in his directed movie named “Maximum Drive.” He has also produced a TV series and has acted in the same way too, called “The Kingdom” and even in some other TV series and movies.
Philanthropist Life:
Stephen King is said to be a very well known Philanthropist too. He donates almost $4 million per year to the local fire department, the libraries that need updated equipment, schools, and other organizations. King and his wife, Tabitha King, also have their foundation charity that donates more $2.8 million grants to The Grantsmanship Center. The foundation by King is also known to be Maine’s sixth ranking foundation in terms of annual average donation giver.
In 2011, the November STK foundation also helped Bangor, Maine, by donating $70,000 to the people for their heating bills during the winter.
